Barriers to Bushels Program to Address Current Crop Production, Management, and Resistance Issues at Three Central Minnesota Locations.

The University of Minnesota Extension proudly presents Barriers to Bushels! Three locations will be offered across Central Minnesota: February 16th at Little Falls, February 24th at Appleton and February 25th at Willmar. Current, research-based information will be presented to control corn and soybean costs. University Extension Educators and specialists will discuss topics with proven fertilizer, pest, soil and weed management with the intent to ultimately increase a producer’s margins and to Take Control over resistant pests, weeds and diseases.

Program cost is $30 which includes a meal (provided courtesy of local sponsors) and handouts. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. in Willmar and 9:00 am in Appleton and Little Falls. Agendas, speakers, and topics varying by site.

Past participants expressed that they have profited and value the research-based and timely information from the Barriers to Bushels meetings. The speakers encourage an open discussion format designed to support audience interaction.



February 16 – Little Falls from 9:00 am – 2:15 including lunch at the Cabin Fever Saloon and Eatery.
 Topics include:

· Corn and Soybean Diseases – Dave Nicolai

· Managing Insect Resistance – Ken Ostlie

· Weed Resistance: Managing for the future – Jeff Gunsolus

· Optimizing starter and pop-up fertilizer - Dan Kaiser



February 24 – Appleton from 9:00 am – 2:15 including lunch at Shooter’s Bar and Grill         
 Topics include:

· Corn and Soybean Diseases – Doug Holen

· Weed Management, Future Resistance Outlook – Jeff Gunsolus

· N management for cheap corn – Fabian Fernandez

· Managing Insect Resistance – Ken Ostlie



February 25 – Willmar from 7:30 am to 12:00 starting with breakfast at the Best Western Plus Convention Center.
 Topics include:

· Managing Insect Resistance – Bob Koch

· Weed Management, Future Resistance Outlook- Jeff Gunsolus

· N Management for Cheap Corn – Fabian Fernandez

· Corn and Soybean Diseases – Dave Nicolai
