Register now for Cover Crop Field Day on August 17

Register now for “Cover Crops: Setting up for Success” on August 17 at the Southwest Research and Outreach Center, Lamberton, if you haven’t already. 

Check-in starts at 8:30 AM, and the program will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with lunch included. The event will be held, rain or shine. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged by August 11 for planning purposes at https://z.umn.edu/covercropfieldday to ensure yourself a meal.

Field day highlights

The field day will highlight U of MN research that helps farmers successfully incorporate cover crops into Minnesota cropping systems. The program is geared for farmers, with or without cover crop experience, and anyone working with farmers who would like to learn more about cover crops. 

Plan to arrive on-time as a field tour of cover crop research trials will commence promptly at the start of the event, weather permitting. Tour stops and topics include:
  • Interseeding cover crops in corn
  • Summer seeding / prevent plant options
  • Planting green / termination trial
  • Cover crops and residual herbicides
  • Cover crops and carbon sequestration
  • NCR-SARE resources and opportunities

There is no cost to attend, thanks to sponsorship from Minnesota North Central Region-Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (MN NCR-SARE). Later registrations and walk-ins are still welcome but timely registration is required to ensure yourself a meal.
