Gopher Coffee Shop podcast: Managing 2019 prevent plant acres

In this installment of the Gopher Coffee Shop podcast, Extension educators Ryan Miller and Brad Carlson “sat down” to record a three-segment podcast on managing prevent plant and prevent harvest acres from the 2019 season. In the first segment, we visit with Liz Stahl, Crops Extension Educator from southwest Minnesota and Jared Goplen, Crops Extension Educator from west-central Minnesota. Their part of the state was most impacted by the prevent plant conditions in 2019, and we discuss the 2019 situation and management considerations for the 2020 crop season.

At about minute 24 in the recording, we switch over to a discussion on 2019 prevent harvest of sugarbeets in northwestern Minnesota. For this discussion we rely on Lindsay Pease, Extension Specialist in Nutrient and Water Management located at the NW Research and Outreach Center. At minute 36 we switch over to visit with Dan Kaiser, Nutrient Management Specialist, in order to discuss nutrient management issues related to prevent plant situations. Enjoy!
