Curious about planting into cover crops or high-residue systems? Join University of Minnesota Extension and local partners this spring for a series of Planting Green Field Days: hands-on, informal events designed to help you tackle these challenges.
Planting day is the most important day in the life of your corn or soybean plant, and it will look different if you are seeding into a heavy residue or living cover crop. These events are designed to prepare farmers for that new planting environment by featuring live planting demonstrations and discussions of planter settings with successful cover crop farmers.
Farmers and partners will discuss equipment modifications, cover crop planning, and evaluate real-time planting conditions. These short sessions will be a great way to connect with fellow farmers and see innovative practices in action. One event, June 12 in Northfield, will focus instead on interseeding cover crops into standing corn, but similar cover crop topics will be discussed.
