The University of Minnesota Manure Team is excited to host two Commercial Animal Waste Technician (CAWT) recertification training course options: in-person on August 7th, 2025, and online through October 31st, 2025.
With a growing focus on environmental sustainability and safe manure management practices, this course is crucial for staying informed on both regulatory updates and safety protocols.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) emphasizes that all training must be completed by November 1st to get CAWT recertification for licensure through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA). Anyone who fails to complete the course, whether in person or online by the October deadline, will need to retake the certification exam to renew their licensure.
In-person CAWT recertification: August 7th, 2025 only
The final in-person Commercial Animal Waste Technicians (CAWT) recertification course for licensure in 2025 will be available on August 7th, 2025 during Minnesota FarmFest. This course allows CAWT professionals to meet their mandatory training requirements, and provides an opportunity to enjoy an on-site large equipment demonstration.In-person Location:
The course will be held in the Wick Building located near the center of the FarmFest Expo grounds (28366 County Highway 13 Morgan, MN 56266)
In-person Time:
The course runs from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Later, the group will gather for a 1-hour large equipment demonstration from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The registration fee is $10 for the in-person recertification training which can be paid at the door by cash or credit card. Recertification for CAWT licensure in 2025 is also accessible in an online format, available through October 31st 2025. Covering a variety of critical topics, the online offering will allow CAWT professionals to meet their mandatory training requirements from the convenience of their homes.
